Celebrating 20 Years
20
Service to our Customers
20
Many of our long-standing customers will want to join us in congratulating Julie Birks
and Mike Buckley, who are both celebrating 20 years’ service this year.
Trouble in the Middle East, the Labour leadership in crisis, worries about the effect of technology on
young people, and high expectations in the World Cup - sounds like last week? Actually, it was all going
on in 2006, when Julie Birks and Mike Buckley joined us at Ken Jervis Kia!

Julie will be especially wellknown to many of you as
‘the voice of Ken Jervis’,
being the first person most
of our customers speak to.
She first joined Ken Jervis
having decided she fancied
a complete change of scene,
having previously worked in a
funeral directors.
Some of you may have
known Mike long before
2006, when he was selling
formal suits in Burton’s in
Hanley. Mike then joined
Ken Jervis after a long spell
running his own car valeting
business.
“I still love coming to work
after 20 years, because
I genuinely love our
customers,” says Julie. “Few
people can say they have known customers for 20 years,
especially in retail, and we have some lovely long-term
relationships. Add to that the friendly colleagues and a
working environment that manages to retain the feel
of a family business no matter how much the company
expands, and you’re onto a real winner!”
Mike is a country boy at heart, with dogs, goats and
chickens to look after at home. Being such an exuberant
character by nature, he just loves being amongst the
busy atmosphere of the showroom. “I’m permanently
surrounded by KJ friends, both colleagues and customers.
That’s why I love it here and why I have stayed for so long!”
Both Mike and Julie enjoyed a well-earned treat
courtesy of Ken Jervis to mark the occasion of their 20
years’ service - a trip to Twickenham for rugby-mad
Mike and his partner, and a date at their favourite Indian
restaurant for Julie and her husband.
