MEET OUR VERY OWN
WORLD CUP
WINNER
Ken Jervis Kia is delighted to
announce that one of our very own
technicians, Tom Sharples, has been
named winner of the Gold Award in
the 12th edition of Kia’s ‘Skill World
Cup’
We are proud and absolutely thrilled
to congratulate Master Technician and
EV Specialist, Tom Sharples, on this
magnificent achievement, which saw
him triumph in a truly international
competition against more than 42
competitors from all around the world.
The Kia Skill World Cup, first launched
in 2002, is a global technical
competition designed to identify
outstanding service technicians,
encourage excellence, and enhance
overall service capabilities. Held
in Korea, the event has been run
biennially as one of Kia’s flagship
global training and skills initiatives.
This year’s competition welcomed
42 technicians from no less than 40
countries to compete in theory and
practical tests.
Having progressed through
preliminary regional rounds, Tom
completed both written and practical
assessments, which evaluated the
competitors’ expertise in service
theory, as well as vehicle and
component diagnostics. Now,
following a challenging selection and
assessment process in Korea, Tom has
taken the top spot and claimed the
Gold Award.
“It was an honour to take part in the
Skills World Cup and even more of
an honour to have won against such
talented competition,” says Tom. “And
being able to represent Ken Jervis
Kia was a fantastic experience. I’m
really grateful for the support the
team at the dealership has provided
throughout my time there.”
Besides a trophy and medal, Tom
came home with more than £3,000 in
prize money.
‘Richly-deserved,’ say all of his
friends and colleagues!
